Cyrus Launch The Cyrus One Integrated Amp - Bluetooth Receiver - and More
o the rumours were true and Cyrus's mystery product, teased at the Munich High End HiFi Show 2016, was the Cyrus One, a relaunch of an older model in a modern guise. The Cyrus One (2016) is all of - an integrated amp, aptX Bluetooth receiver, Moving Magnet phono stage and powerful class AB Headphone Amp all contained in the one and immediately identifiable Cyrus box - yours for £699.
The integrated amp stage of the Cyrus one is particularly flexible and powerful. Cyrus’s own 3rd generation Class D amplifier providing 2 x 100W and the amp can be run as either just a pre amp or just a power amp in AV bypass mode the Cyrus One can then integrated into any home theatre system.
The integrated amp section of the Cyrus One also used SID. SID stands for Speaker Impedance detection and was first seen in the more costly Cyrus Stereo 200 Power amp so is an example of trickle down technology in the Cyrus One. SID detects the impedance of the attached speakers and adjusts the amplifiers output to compensate and optimise sound quality.
Finally the infra-red remote supplied with the Cyrus One, can control volume and switch inputs, as well as adjusting the brightness of the display LEDs to suit your listening environment.

Video Review And Unboxing Of The Cyrus One - Integrated Amp
he Cyrus One, at £699, is a relaunch of a Cyrus classic from 1984 but brought up-to-date for 2016. For instance there’s aptX Bluetooth wireless streaming, which wasn’t available when the original launched, and new features such as a phono stage, and headphone amp. What Hi-Fi start from the sealed Cyrus One Box and over the next three minutes, show what’s inside, then go onto features.
One of these features in Speaker Impedance Detection of SID. SID varies the output to match the impedance of the connected speakers thus improving sound quality. They like the rest of us, aren’t too sure about the 100 Watts per channel claim as Cyrus don’t say whether this is into 8 Ohms or 4 Ohms. 8 Ohms would be very impressive from such a small ½ width case.

Hi-Fi Choice's Take On The Cyrus One
i-Fi Choice Take The Cyrus One Out for review and ask is the Cyrus One the One amp to rule them all ? Unlikely at the review price of just £699. They do award the Cyrus One with their full 5 stars overall, which when broken down is 5 stars for Sound Quality, features and value for money. ■ Strong Points for the Cyrus One were :- Clean, dynamic power; innovative SID system; epic bass; value for money.
■ Weak points were :- Tiny remote feels temporary.
All in all Hi-Fi Choice conclude on the Cyrus One with - Cyrus may have been inspired to appeal to a new, younger 'enlightened’ audience that wants plug and play simplicity for vinyl, streamed and line sources, but the level of performance it has achieved within a single svelte box for a modest price, means seasoned audiophiles should be tempted. Thoroughly recommended.
There's an interesting comparison at the end of the Cyrus One vs both the newly reduced in price Arcam A29 and a great favourite of What Hi-Fi the Rega Elex-R.
