Highlights of the Bristol HiFi Show 2017
017 marked the 30th Bristol HiFi Show based as ever in the Marriott hotel. To celebrate we all had 30th Anniversary blue ribbons for our passes and KEF were on the lookout for anyone who had been to all 30 shows. They had someone who had been to 25 (mere beginner then me at only 20 !). Continuing the search we found the Q Acoustics presenter who’d been to 29 only having missed one show through back surgery. There were a few notable absences this year in terms of manufacturers, no Rotel, Marantz or Denon. Newcomers were amongst others Auralic. Recent converts to the show such as Musical Fidelity, iFi Audio and Devialet all returned. All of this led to much to see over 6 floors and it took the full 3 days and a 5 p.m. Sunday finish getting round all the rooms, and attending the many demos. Here’s some of the highlights :-

The cabinet below has a downward firing bass unit, in the bottom part, to give the speaker an extra 1/2 octave or so compared to the Neat Iota. Driven by just a Naim SuperUniti and taking music from a Naim UnitiServe, the "Big Ota" was a very enjoyable listening experience.
