Review - JCAT Reference USB Cable By Audiostream
T he JCAT Reference USB Cable is reviewed by Audiostream. This USB cable comes in at 499 euros for a one metre length and carries the USB signal and USB power in separate cables (in the same way manner as iFi's own Gemini USB cable). For those that haven't heard of JCAT, they are the hardware side of JPLAY, who have a rival music player to JRivers called JPlay 6. JPlay 6 is also used in the review. The review uses the iFi Audio iUSB Power to provide a very clean 5 volt USB power to travel down the power part of the JCAT Reference USB cable, improving the sound quality. It all gets a bit wacky when Synergistic Research ECTs (Electronic Circuit Transducers) are placed on the USB cable connectors to further improve sound quality, but as they say at the start, in the warning, the review is for open minded audiophiles only !
