Review - Auralic Aries Mini

Auralic Aries Mini

The Auralic Aries Mini Streamer is reviewed by Hi-Fi Choice
A new review of the Auralic Aries Mini Streamer by Hi-Fi Choice. The review price for the Aries Mini was £450. The review uses the Mini as both a conventional streamer with RCA output from the Mini’s own DAC and as a digital bridge with digital output taken from the Coax output. In both cases the partnering equipment is Chord Electronics’ CPM 2800 MkII integrated amp with digital inputs and ATC SCM40 speakers. The review finally notes the improvements to be had by upgrading from the Aries’s wall wart power supply to the optional £250 Aries linear power supply.

Review - Auralic Aries Mini - Streamer By DAR
T he Auralic Aries Mini (yours for £375) is reviewed by DAR. DAR approaches the Auralic Aries Mini from the perspective of looking for something better than Sonos and perhaps to rival the Logitech Squeezebox Touch (unfortunately long discontinued). The review also sees them use a Linear Power Supply Unit from Auralic to improve the power supply. The Aries Mini is a streamer and DAC section so can be plugged into an amplifier in an existing HiFi system to offer streaming capabilities. DAR sees their first to objectives achieved (for those that remember the Logitech Squeezebox Touch). They then go onto compare the Aries Mini DAC section (powered by the Linear PSU) against the Multibit Bifrost from Schiit and even the Chord Mojo, which just goes to show there are upgrade routes for the Aries Mini, via an external DAC ! DAR concludes with :-

Video Review - Auralic Aries Mini - Streamer By HB Channel
T he Auralic Aries Mini is the subject of a comprehensive 15 minute video review by HB channel. The price at the time of the review for the Aries Mini was £375. The Aries Mini includes a DAC section so can be plugged into the amplifier of an existing HiFi system to offer streaming capabilities. There is a down side to the Aries Mini in that it doesn't have its own display, has only half the RAM of the full blown Aries and AES/EBU is missing as a digital output.

Review - Auralic Aries Digital Media Bridge By Hi-Fi Plus
A review from Hi-Fi Plus of the Auralic Aries Digital Media Bridge, yours for £1,500. Hi-Fi Plus begin by asking what is a digital media bridge ? Well this turns out to be simpler than expected as a digital media bridge is a streamer with no DAC capability. The Aries can only output a digital signal and then needs a DAC to decode it. Bringing the various digital signals out there such as NAS drive, USB, streaming services such as Qobuz into one box then outputting a time stable, bit perfect signal is not easy (as anyone who's seen Windows 10 reboot in the middle of a listening session will immediately testify to or express in a stronger oath!). Hi-Fi Plus like the Auralic Aries as a solution to this streaming problem - concluding :-

Astell&Kern AK500N

Review - Astell&Kern AK500N Streaming System By Andrew Everard
T he Astell&Kern AK500N Streaming system is reviewed by Andrew Everard. Streaming system seems an easy description here as the reviewer asks many times what the AK500N is (it's a stacked many box streaming , amplification and power supply system), tries to trip it up with difficult material but fails and enjoys, an unexpected, 80's musical nostalgic re-acquaintance. The summary of the Astell&Kern AK500N is :-

Review - Auralic Aries Streamer

Auralic Aries Streamer

Review of the Auralic Aries Streamer by Computeraudiophile
A seriously glowing review of the Auralic Aries Streamer or Digital Media Bridge by Computeraudiophile. The £1,500 Auralic has no internal USB DAC instead it acts as a play back bridge between digital sources where ever these are e.g. on a NAS, USB drive or a streaming service such as Qobuz or Tidal and your DAC. Computeraudiophile spends many months with the Auralic Aries noting that the Aries continued to improve over that time just through free firmware updates. Very interestingly they conclude that it’s the best streamer they heard, better than a turnkey solution or a laptop, even bettering their own CAPS Server (one serious Desktop Computer !). A CASH (Computer Audiophile Suggested Hardware) award is the result with a conclusion of :-

T wo reviews for the price of one in which the £1,500 Auralic Aries Digital Media Bridge is reviewed alongside the £1,890 Auralic Aries Gemini 2000 Headphone Dock. These two Auralic products are unusual in that the Auralic Aries is a streamer without a USB DAC ( technically a digital media bridge ) and the Auralic Gemini 2000 Headphone Dock actually includes a USB DAC and headphone amp, so put together you have a complete headphone playback system. The reviewer notes that the Auralic Aries is really a very well thought out, Computer Audio orientated, computer and concludes :-
