Audiolab launch the M-DAC Mini - A portable DAC and headphone amp
T he Audiolab M-DAC mini is the fourth model in the Audiolab M-DAC range and at just £295.95 is a portable, re-chargeable battery powered, Hi-Res Audio capable DAC and headphone amp that offers wireless connectivity. The M-DAC Mini is the smallest of the four hi-res DAC/headphone amps in the range, but still contains the same core technologies that have earned the M-DAC family reviewer acclaim, for instance the M-DAC Mini’s decoding is based around the ES9018 Sabre32 Reference DAC used by the other DACs in the range.

F irst seen at the Bristol HiFi Show 2016 the Audiolab - M-One, a one box pre/power amp, USB DAC, and aptX Bluetooth receiver, has been officially launched by Audiolab with a RRP of £799.95. Outwardly, the M-ONE is almost identical to the M-DAC+, Audiolab’s flagship USB DAC being housed in the same compact aluminium case, small enough to sit unobtrusively on a desk, table or shelf, with the same central OLED display and elegant dual rotary control scheme. But while standalone DACs like the M-DAC+ require a separate power amp to drive a pair of speakers, the M-ONE packs stereo power amplification of suitably high quality, plus preamp facilities for analogue sources as well as digital inputs, and a headphone amp, into the diminutive chassis.

T he Audiolab M-One - Integrated Amp and DAC will retail for £800 "ish" and also offers Bluetooth connectivity and DSD decoding. Audiolab see the M-One as a one box solution that offers a connection back to, and is derived from, an audiophile heritage of Audiolab one box HiFi components. More than this though, the Audiolab M-One, in a thoroughly modern style, offers Bluetooth connectivity and DSD decoding.

Audiolab have completely redesigned the 8200 A in the 8300 A basing the design around a more powerful 75 Watt dual mono amplifier. As well as the integrated amp the 8300 A can now act as a pre or a power amp and features an OLED display plus 8300 series aesthetics.

A udiolab have announced the M-DAC+ (retail price around £1,000 available end of 2015) which will be released along with the Audiolab 8300 series. The M-DAC+ is a USB DAC that builds on the strengths of the award winning M-DAC. The M-DAC+ now offers DSD decoding as well as decoding of computer audio PCM formats beyond the M-DAC's 24 bit 192 kHz limit such as DXD at 32 bits 284 kHz.

T he Audiolab 8300 range of HiFi Separates will replace the current 8200 range in the latter part of 2015. Pictured is the new 8300 CD Player and USB DAC capable of decoding DSD256 and the 250 Watts per channel 8300MB Mono block power amps. Audiolab are planning an 8300 version of all 8200 models and the rumour is that existing 8200 models will be upgradeable to 8300 specs which would make sense given that the 8300 range has been announced but isn't ready yet.

A udiolab M-CDT Update - The circa £400 price below proved to be pretty much spot on as the RRP for the Audiolab M-CDT is £399. The M-CDT is a CD transport only so no internal or USB accessible DAC. The Audiolab M-CDT is a slot loaded CD transport only (no SACD or DVD-A Output). The Outputs are digital coax or optical. Finally the m-CDT has 12V triggers so can be powered up and down as part of a complete HiFi system using a remote.
